Volunteers

Our Project Managers work with our volunteers to coordinate tasks in accordance with their availability. The tasks we regularly require support with is for the collection of donations, food etc. and ideally, we look for volunteers who would be willing to drive the van. We also look for volunteers to assist with the fundraising events that we run throughout the year.

The Jersey Homeless Outreach Group (JHOG) provide a service to contact 'rough sleepers' with the intention of assisting them to move to direct access accommodation in as short a time as practicably possible.  JHOG also provide food, warm drinks and blankets to ‘rough sleepers’.  The service is provided by volunteers, who work in conjunction with The Shelter Trust. The volunteers often support staff at Shelter to complete the daily tasks required in providing support to Jersey's homeless community.

JHOG volunteers aim to go out two to three times a week. There are also food donations the Trust collects from various places around the Island, with the help of our volunteers.

With reference to donations, the contact is Aztec House:  (01534) 730235.

We would always welcome suggestions as to ideas how volunteers can assist the Trust.

Our only restriction is to ensure that we maintain the confidentiality of our clients and, in doing so, where a volunteer performs a role where they may be based at one of our sites or in contact with our clients, we ask that they consent to completing a DBS Check (police check).  In addition, we obtain two references.
