New Unit for the homeless
On the 23rd June 2011 "Strathmore", our new residential unit situated in St Mark's Road, was officially opened by His Excellency Lieutenant-General Sir Andrew Ridgway, who was accompanied by Lady Ridgway.
Happily we were able to celebrate the opening just in time before Sir Andrew, who was Patron of Shelter, was due to leave the Island at the end of his tenure as Lieutenant-Governor.
Dr Margaret Bayes, Chair of the Trustees of Shelter welcomed around 70 invited guests to Strathmore for the occasion. Many of whom then took the opportunity to take a tour around the hostel and to meet some of the staff and residents.
The refurbishment of Strathmore was achieved with the help and support of many, both in the corporate sector and from private individuals and Dr Bayes expressed the Trust's thanks to the people of Jersey for their extraordinary generosity.
